Meet Our Priest-in-Charge
The Rev. Jake Andrews
The Rev. Jake Andrews was called to St. Bartholomew’s in August 2023. Jake is a graduate of the University of Alabama (B.A.), Beeson Divinity School (M.Div.), the University of Aberdeen, Scotland (M.Th. and Ph.D.), and the University of Iowa (M.F.A.). In 2019, Jake was ordained to the priesthood while serving as a professor at Whitworth University in Spokane, WA. He spent the first years of his ordained life as an assisting priest at St. John’s Cathedral, Spokane, WA, and, most recently, as the vicar of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, Spokane Valley. Gradually, he felt God’s persistent call to full-time ministry and is so happy to have been called to St. Bart’s and the Shoals, where he is also the Associate Rector of Trinity. Jake is married to Christina, and they have a son, Jonah.

Holy Week at St. Bart's
Holy Communion, Wednesday, April 16, 11am
This informal, spoken service is perfect to reorient yourself in the middle of a work week that is Holy Week. The service lasts for half an hour.
Tenebrae, Wednesday, April 16, 5:30pm
This service helps set the tone for the coming days. We hear an assortment of readings while the choir leads us in singing the psalms. As we continue, the lights are gradually extinguished, helping prepare us to contemplate the mystery of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
The Triduum, Thursday, April 17 – Saturday, April 19
We join our sister parish, Trinity Episcopal, to celebrate the great Three Days, the holiest time of the year. These services take place across town. On Thursday, we gather at 7pm to celebrate the institution of the Lord’s Supper. Friday, we join at 7pm to commemorate the death of Jesus. Saturday morning, at 10am, we gather for a brief service of prayer to commemorate those hours Jesus lay in the tomb. At 7pm on Saturday, we will gather outside Trinity church, to celebrate the night that Jesus broke the bonds of death.
Stations of the Cross, Friday, April 18, 10am
We will walk around the church and hear readings from scripture that detail the final hours of Jesus’ life. The goal is to help us see how his life, death, and resurrection still have ongoing power in our day-to-day lives.
